Who is Lynn Williams?

Born and raised in Western Canada, where she received her training, soprano Lynn Williams returned from Europe in 1997, where she lived and worked as a professional freelance soloist. During that time she was heard in many major centres including Geneva, Frankfurt and Florence. Her performances included appearances in oratorio, recital and opera. Lynn’s final appearance while resident in Europe was as Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme (Geneva). During Easter 1997 she was soprano soloist in several performances of Bach’s St. John Passion in Frankfurt, Germany.

Since returning to Canada, Lynn has been heard in such oratorios as Orff’s Carmina Burana, Bruce Ruddell’s Te Deum, Handel’s Messiah, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater, Haydn’s Creation, Verdi’s Requiem, Brahm’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and the Mozart Mass in C. Lynn has since been called back to Europe for works such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and the Mozart Requiem.

Apart from adjudicating around BC, Lynn owns and runs the Penrhyn Academy of Singing, teaching all age groups, directs the Ladies Madrigal Singers and is the Minister of Music for the Bowen Island United Church.
